Here We Go!

The Rule of 3 Diet was developed in my mind last night, and born today. Today, I started the diet. I weigh every morning. Generally I weigh naked, but it really doesn’t matter as long as you are consistent. I think weighing every day is important because it will let you know what a certain day’s worth of eating will do to your body. For example, if you eat a lot of sodium, you may gain a pound or two. Granted, it is probably water weight that you’ll have off by the next day, but you won’t know if you don’t weigh yourself again. Something else to consider though: if you have a significant amount to lose (30 pounds or more), weighing every day might be really frustrating. For you, I recommend weighing in once a week.

So, today, I weigh 144. My goal is to lead a healthy lifestyle, with the unofficial goal of weighing somewhere around 130 and a size 4-6, depending on my level of fitness. I know I can achieve this because I have been at this weight not too long ago. I was the thinnest I’ve ever been right after I had my son. I went on Weight Watchers and got down to 127 and a size 0-4, depending on where I bought my clothes. It was great! I had to go buy all new clothes because I shrunk out of all my old ones! Now I wish I would’ve kept my old clothes because I’m growing out of them. I’m a size 8 now. I am uncomfortable and my clothes don’t fit. Until today, I have had no motivation to diet or go to the gym. I joined a gym in January and was going 5-6 times a week. I burnt out. I thought 3 would be a reasonable number of times to ask myself to go. I’m planning on going tomorrow. I’m even wearing my gym shirt to bed so I don’t conveniently ‘forget.’ Because I know working out is so important, I built in the reward system of earning more cheats when you go above 3.

So my journey begins. I thought I’d write my food down every day, so you will have a guide should you need one. And hey, you could even copy my meals and not have to think about it at all. Most of the measurements are approximate. I have dieted so much that I know what they look like. If you are just starting out, measure until you get the hang of it.

What are your goals? Can you remember the time when you felt your best?  Tell me about them by posting below.
