Over the Guilt

yoga_1.jpg

I had a good day today.  I went to the gym and wanted to do cardio and yoga.  I got over my guilt about leaving the kids in child care for longer than an hour.  They have a 2 hour limit.  I told the girl there about my guilt trip and she told me there are parents that will go over the 2 hour limit, so that she’ll have to go get them.  Then they’ll tell her that they ‘need’ to take a shower and will only be about 20 more minutes!  Puh-lease. That’s what the TV is for; to babysit during a shower.  (ha!)  I really liked my new yoga teacher.  She took the time to explain the moves, when exactly to do them with your breathing, and we did actual breathing exercises.  I loved it and think I will make that a regular class as well as my Body Pump class which I’m looking forward to going to tomorrow morning.

I almost ignored one of my tips tonight.  My dinner was so good, that I wanted ‘just one more spoonful’ of Mexican Bean Salad.  I turned around to go get some and zing!  I had already put it away, reminding me that I should not go for seconds, and I will probably feel full when my 20 min. is up.  Sure enough, I started doing all the dishes, and my craving for the salad disappeared.  I wonder how many pounds a year you would save yourself from gaining if you never went for ‘one more bite.’  I’d bet at least 10.

Woo Hoo!

pom_poms_1.jpg

I’m down another half pound today.  I’m feeling really great about the decisions I’m making and the way I’m being rewarded for it.  It was such a great feeling this morning to fit into some pants that I wasn’t able to fit into 2 weeks ago.  Woo Hoo!

Last-Minute Meals

watch_1.jpg

I’m starting off the week on a good note because I am not yet tired of the diet.  I don’t feel deprived, I’m never hungry and I’m feeling more fit.  My mood is good, and I’m down 5 pounds so far, and under 140!  I wasn’t that great about planning out all my meals for this week, so it might be a challenge, but I do have a lot of healthy options to choose from, so I’ll just have to get creative (like my frozen lunch today!)What are some of your last-minute healthy meals?  You know, the ones when you need to eat NOW, but you want something healthful?  What do you eat?  My fallback is a frozen meal.  Since I started The Rule of Three Diet, I’ve been careful to purchase ones without white pasta or white rice.  I know that Southbeach and I think Lean Cuisine makes some with whole wheat products.  Please post your last-minute-meals here; I can always use more ideas!

Flat Buns

buns_1.jpg

I weighed in at 139 this morning! That’s 5 # since the beginning.  Tomorrow will be the true weigh in, but I can feel a difference in my body.  Sounds funny, I know, but I’m starting to lose the hips… you know that part that hangs over your low-rise jeans that looks so unattractive when it peaks out of your shirt.  Barf.  What is one thing that you would change about your body?  You can’t say everything.  If you could pick one part to change first, the rest will follow, what part would it be?  I think mine would be my butt.  My butt is flat, and try as I may, I have not ever been able to lift it.  Post your answer here.

Planning Ahead

calendar_1.jpg

I’m still hurting from class yesterday; hopefully Yoga will help stretch me out today.  I’m getting into Yoga more; focusing on myself instead of caring about what others might be thinking of me.  I’m breathing deeper and am able to do more poses without falling.
The kids had a birthday party at a park today with cupcakes. I packed myself some healthy snacks, so I wouldn’t be starving and give in to cake. Planning ahead like this is one of my tried and true strategies.  If I were starving at the park, I’d convince myself that I needed a cupcake.  Every morning, I look at my calendar to see what events I have that day.  Do I need to make something for a picnic? Do I have a birthday party to take the kids to?  Will I be out of the house all morning?  Planning ahead like this helps me realize if I need to take snacks with me.  I always carry a little baggie of almonds with me, but sometimes that is not filling enough.  Today, I had the time to pack a Fruit and Yogurt Parfait, Hummus and carrots in a lunchbox for myself. What are your favorite to-go snacks?

Seize the Day

beautiful_day_1.jpg

Wow!  What a gorgeous day outside today!  I sold my double stroller because my toddlers weigh too much and it was really hard to turn, so I don’t get to go on walks with them unless I go at their pace.  Anyway, today was the first day of preschool for both of them. After breakfast, I ran my errands and estimated I had enough time to walk/jog to the school as long as my friend could take us home.  She did, and I got an unexpected 20 min workout today!  My grandmother’s advice, passed to me by my mom: Don’t wait for tomorrow to do what you can today.  What unexpected thing have you done lately?

Our Semester Begins

bus_1.jpg

Down another pound this morning! (141.5)  Tuesdays and Thursdays will be my busiest days of the week.  I say, “will be” because today is the start of our school semester.  My son starts pre-school, Sports Essentials, and home schooling one day a week. My daughter and I have mommy and me gymnastics at The Little Gym and she goes to a Mom’s day out program once a week.  Since I know I’ll be out all morning, I’ll take a banana with me as my snack before errands. I’ll come home to make my chicken salad for lunch, then I’ll have to go pick him up. Here’s a tip: I’ve noticed that if I take the steps to prepare a meal well before the meal-time arrives, I’m more likely to eat what I have planned. Too often, I have told myself, “I’m hungry. I was planning on this certain healthy meal, but nachos would be so easy to make” BOO! Well, my tongue says “yum,”  my mind says, “you go, you rebel”, but my stomach says, “keep this up and I’m not going to let you button your favorite jeans!”
